Wendy Jane is a Mainland Chinese scriptwriter and film director. A graduate of the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, she has also studied film in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Taiwan, London and Zurich, and worked on projects for the US-China and HK film industries. Some of her most notable achievements include work on international feature film sets, such as Disney’s Mulan (dir. Niki Caro, 2020), Skyfire (dir. Simon West, 2019), and The Meg (dir. Jon Turteltaub, 2018).
Equally notable are her award-winning short films, which have been screened at film festivals in Cannes, New York, Amsterdam and across Asia. In 2021, her short “Sunny Side Up” won the Best Short Film Award at New York Film Week, and Best Female Director at Indie Shorts Awards Cannes.
With experience working and living in many parts of the world, and her fluency in Mandarin, Cantonese and English, Wendy has been exposed to a great variety of culture that allows her to create emotional stories that touch each of us. This is the core goal of her filmmaking work - global stories that resonate through an emotional connection of culturally different characters.
